Dormant VSO Funding Policy

If a Voluntary Student Organization (VSO) does not regain active status within three consecutive academic quarters of becoming dormant1, all funds in its GrantEd accounts will be reallocated to the appropriate ASSU programming fund (Undergraduate or Graduate) to support active student organizations.

Before becoming dormant, a group may choose to reallocate its remaining non-ASSU funds (2800 account) to another active VSO, as outlined in its Constitution. This transfer must be initiated by the group’s Financial Officer. All ASSU Student Activity Fee funds (Quick, Annual, Reserve) must return to the programming pool.

In all cases, VSO funds must remain within an active student organization or the ASSU programming pool and may not be transferred to other Stanford entities or departments.

¹ Per Office of Student Engagement policy, after three quarters of dormancy, student organizations become unrecognized and must reapply as a new organization.
